At Bark & Mane of Birmingham, Troy & Rochester Hills (formerly Aussie Pet Mobile), we're bringing a calmer, more intentional way to groom to Metro Detroit: one pet at a time, 100% cage-free, right to the pet parent's doorstep.
We're locally owned and operated by a family of lifelong pet parents, and backed by Bark & Mane, a national mobile grooming brand with vans on the road across the country. You get the support and systems of an established company with the attention of a local owner.
We're hiring the founding groomer for our first van, launching November 2026 in Birmingham and surrounding areas. If you want to help build something from day one and grow with it, this is your chance!
What You'll Get
- Strong earning potential: Generous commission, plus you keep 100% of your tips. Together you could expect to exceed $250 to $450+ per day on a full schedule.
- Full time with a consistent weekly schedule, and flexibility when life happens. We build your days around your availability.
- Launch period guarantee: $250 per day guaranteed through December 15th, 2026, or your commission plus tips, whichever is greater. While we build your book, you don't carry the risk.
- Manageable days: 4 to 6 pets per day, so you can put quality and pet safety first
- No scheduling headaches: our office handles booking, customer communication, and your route
- Fuel, van, supplies, and equipment fully covered
- A fully equipped, brand new, Ford Transit mobile grooming salon with heat, A/C, hydrobath, fresh water, and onboard power. No hookups needed.
- Company-paid AKC S.A.F.E. Grooming Certification and continuing education to build your credentials
- The freedom to decline pets that aren't safe to groom

- Room to grow: We plan to add vans as we expand into Troy and Rochester Hills, with a path to Lead/Head Groomer.

What You'll Be Doing
- Full-service grooming from start to finish: intake check, bathing, drying, brushing, haircuts, nail trims, ear cleaning, sanitary trims, and de-shedding treatments
- Creating a calm, safe, cage-free experience for every pet
- Completing the Bark & Mane Well-Being WrapUp, sharing wellness observations and grooming recommendations with each pet parent
- Communicating with pet parents professionally and warmly, and educating them on coat care and the benefits of a recurring schedule. Recommending add-on services that keep their pet comfortable, and filling your own schedule in the process
- Document your work with gorgeous before and after photos
- Driving your van safely between appointments
- Keeping your van clean, stocked, and organized
- Building a loyal base of recurring clients
- Ad-hoc responsibilities, as required
Who This Opportunity Is For
We're looking for experienced groomers who:
- Have 2 to 3+ years of professional grooming experience (cat grooming experience a strong plus!)
- Grooming certifications or a portfolio of your work are a strong plus
- Can confidently and safely groom a variety of breeds independently
- Take pride in their work and don't cut corners
- Want a less stressful, more structured work environment
- Are reliable, professional, and customer-focused
- Hold a valid driver's license with a clean driving record and are comfortable driving a full-size van (must meet our insurance requirements)
- Can lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and safely handle pets of all sizes
No degree required. We value grooming skill, experience, and a genuine love for pets.
Where You'll Work
- Birmingham and surrounding areas to start, expanding into Troy and Rochester Hills as we grow
- All grooming is done at the customer's home.
- Van pickup and drop-off at our Berkley/Troy-area location.
